Reverend Janet Kroboth-Weber been a personal assistant to the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers since they first met in the Catskills in Oct. 2004. She came to this role through her connection to the Center for Sacred Studies, a non-profit, organization dedicated to sustaining indigenous ways of life through cross-cultural spiritual practices, ministry and education, and a commitment to peace and unity for all peoples. CSS activities include providing prayer services, ceremonies, and a variety of gatherings for worship, according to various traditions. The purpose of these offerings is to invite individuals, families, and communities to develop devotion, and to strengthen their relationship to the Divine. The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers was set in motion by a common vision, a prophecy seeded decades ago in many people around the world. One of these seeds was planted in Jyoti, and in Ann Rosencranz, of the Center for Sacred Studies. In this vision, the Divine Mother appeared and offered Jyoti a basket with five precious jewels. As she handed it to Jyoti she said, “Take my basket, tend to these precious jewels, do not mix them and do not change them, each jewel represents a line of prayer that goes back to original times. Carry them through the doorway of the new millennium and hand it back to me, for there is something we are going to do.” When they first convened in 2004, The Grandmothers recognized that vision and accepted the basket, establishing a global alliance. Rev. Janet Kroboth-Weber primarily assists the Lakota grandmothers on the council, but also assist in other ways and is the first/only person to be endorsed by the council to speak to the public about their work. Rev. Kroboth-Weber also travels and discusses Carole Hart's documentary film on the Grandmothers, For The Next Seven Generations, a movie that tells the story of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers from all around the world who came together to help us create a new way of life that will bring the planet back into balance before it's too late.
